Halloween is one of our favorite times of the year because we get to dress up in fun costumes. It is also a time where we have to be extra safe! At The Learning Experience®, child safety and security is of the utmost importance to us. Our Safe ‘N’ Secure centers were built with every little detail in mind to keep your children protected while they are in our care. To extend this safety blanket that we provide for children and families, many of our centers will be having “Trunk or Treat” events as a safe and controlled alternative to trick-or-treating. Each “Trunk or Treat” event allows families to gather in a closed parking lot and use their vehicle trunks as their front door so that they can distribute candy to other TLE families. Every year these highly attended events provide our families with an opportunity to simulate door-to-door trick-or-treating for their children, without the dangers that come along with trick-or-treating in the open community. For those of you that will be participating in trick-or-treating out in the community, we want you to be safe, so here are some helpful safety tips:
1. Costume Safety Tips:
- Use props that are easy to carry
- Don’t wear masks that limit visibility
- Don’t wear long costumes that will make you trip, or lose balance
2. Halloween Safety Hazards:
- Wear or carry something that lights up to avoid safety hazards
- Always use crosswalks and sidewalks
- Go to homes that are well lit and easy to spot from a distance
3. Trick or treat planning:
- Plan your route before leaving the house
- Eat before going out so that children are not prone to over-indilge
- Stay hydrated and take bathroom breaks
We hope that everyone has a happy and safe Halloween!
